Labor Day Safety Tips

Grilling this holiday season? Check out these grilling dos and don’ts:

  • Do use your long handed utensils
  • Do not place your grill near your home, deck railings, or tree branches
  • Do wear safe clothing which means nothing frilly
  • Do not leave a grill unattended once lit
  • Do use the following in an emergency to extinguish flames: baking soda, fire extinguisher, bucket of sand, or a garden hose

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Ingredients:
½ minced onion
4 cloves minced garlic
¾ cup bourbon whiskey
½ teaspoon black ground pepper
½ tablespoon salt
2 cups ketchup
¼ cup tomato paste
1/3 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons liquid smoke flavoring
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
½ packed brown sugar

Directions:
In a large skillet over medium heat, combine onion, garlic and
whiskey. Simmer for 10 minutes. Then mix in the remaining
ingredients.
Bring to a boil. Then reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 20
minutes. For a smoother consistency, run sauce through a strainer.
